Me and Erika set off for Sixflags Great Adventure, NJ at 8am.
Naturally we stopped for a Starbucks and Cinnabon on route for breakfast. The weather was beautifully sunny and hot, 90F, a perfect day!
We arrived at Sixflags at around 11am and after a little fiasco with getting inside we were in! The security guard didn't let me take my GoPro inside even though there were no signs anywhere saying they weren't allowed and there was also nothing on the website. He said I had to take it back to the car or surrender it to him... Anyway, obviously I took it back to the car and I left my bag with the security guard so that when he frisked Erika, she could take my bag in with her. She then got checked and when she came through the bag had gone! The security guard was like 'uhh I don't know!' and was useless! Erika thought someone may of stolen it so was running around like a lunatic looking for it. The guard then told her to look in lost and found, surely it wouldn't be there but she had no other choice. She then went to lost and found and the bag was there! Then the lady in lost and found said to Erika 'please watch your bag next time - don't leave it lying around.' Erika was like WHAT?! My bag was being checked by security and then it was taken by you before I had chance to be reunited with it! Annoying and stressful... But anyway then we were in and ready for thrills!
We did Batman at the front which was like Nemesis Inferno from Thorpe Park, but faster. A hanging sitting ride that went around, loops and whatnot. Then we did Nitro at the front which was a rollercoaster that started by going very, very high and going vertically straight down which was very fun and definitely a thrill. This was one of my favourite rides. We then went on The Joker which was a great ride! There was a 2 person seat that was on its own rotation. Then there were 2, 2 person seats on an arm which also rotated. The track of the ride went up and down and twisted around so you were sort of spinning 3 times on 3 separate spins and rotations. It was definitely the most bizarre and crazy ride I have ever been on. It was fun! All the lines for all the rides were so short as well. They were like 20 minutes / 30 minutes maximum so that was great. But then we stayed in line for Superman for around 2 hours and we weren't even halfway. They were only sending around one carriage at a time and the ride was taking a LONGGGG time to load and unload people. So in the end we left the line to go on another ride. We then got in line for Kingda Ka. This is the ride Erika was most excited about and I was most nervous about! It was very similar to Stealth at Thorpe Park in the UK but it was faster, higher and also twisted on the way down. We were sat in the carriage waiting for it to go and I was SO scared! Then it shot off - 120mph in less than 4 seconds, I screamed the entire time. Then is shot you up into the air and then I wasn't scared anymore. Before I even had time to think about the fact we were going up we were already at the top and then coming down was awesome!!! It was SO fun! The photo was hilarious also as it takes the photo at the start when you are being propelled forward at 120mph so I was screaming and looking terrified in the photo haha! After this ride we went on The Green Lantern which was a stand up rollercoaster and there were even loops which was bizarre to do standing up! Awesome! After this it was 5pm and we decided to get something to eat. Even though we both didn't feel too hungry we decided we should get something to eat with being in the blazing sun all day. After we ate we went to a ride called Bizarro which had so many loops and twists and turns in it and it was fast and it was really fun. There was no line for this ride so we did it twice. By this time it was late so we decided to go on El Toro which was a classic old rollercoaster. Made of wood and lots of ups and downs. From looking at it we didn't expect too much but WOW this was such a great ride! It had a super big drop and the ride went SO quick for the entire time. It didn't slow down at all and it was a long ride! We were impressed. The park was nearly closing so we lined up for this ride again to end the day.
As we were walking out we realised we didn't take any photos all day of any of the rides which was a shame but it shows we were having such a great day. We went into a gift shop as we were leaving and we both bought a Kingda Ka shirt.
I don't even want to talk about the journey home as it was horrible and stressful and I don't want it to taint the amazing day we had. Because we really did have such an amazing and memorable day.
One of my favourite days in the USA so far for sure!!!
I love you Erika!
