Day 2 of our holiday!
Today we went to Captiva beach! It was a lovely beach with clear, blue water, fluffy sand, shells and there was hardly anyone there! We spent the entire day on the beach in the beautiful heat and sunshine. There were lots of pelicans flying around and also we saw dolphins swimming in the sea, very close to the shore! I sunbathed, read a book, played in the sand with Cameron, fed seagulls with Cameron, searched for seashells and then also went swimming in the sea! The sea was cold when you first got in (obviously) but when you were in it actually wasn't that bad! I was fully submerged in the water, feet off the ground swimming in the waves with Cameron.
Cameron found it hilarious because when we were coming back to shore he was out the water but couldn't get his footing. I was saying "stand up, stand up!" The tide was crashing against me and I knew I couldn't hold him much longer and that I might fall on him with the waves pushing me from behind. He then stood up and I let go and as I did a wave crashed against us. I got pushed forward but remained standing and Cameron face-planted the seabed. The first thought that came into my mind was this...
Luckily, he was fine and found it as hilarious as I did.
Another funny story comes when we were feeding the seagulls. He was having so much fun throwing the bread into the air and seeing the seagulls catch it. He started off feeding one seagull and then as he continued, all the others clocked on that there was a boy giving out food and so then there were about 15! Every time he threw some bread they all flew in the sky around him, literally just above his head. At one point he didn't let go of the bread and they got closer and closer to him and he got freaked out and started to run away. He still didn't let go of the bread and we all know what seagulls are like. They all started swooping him and 'snapping' at his fingers (as he described it) and he was screaming and running further and further into the distance. Me and Gwen were laughing and then Jackie was like "Oh no I think he is actually really scared!!!" and went running after him down the beach which just made us laugh more. What fun!
After the sun had gone down we drove home and stopped at this American beach outdoor diner for dinner. I had a burrito and it was very good! After dinner we stopped by at an orange shop. It sold freshly picked Florida oranges (we bought some) and also orange ice cream. I wasn't sure but I got an orange vanilla twist ice cream and it was so nice! So flavourful and creamy and fresh!
Again, we rented another movie to watch and watched it before we went to bed.
