There's still lots of snow today!
Today started with us all going to church to watch the Christmas pageant. It was the classic nativity play - Cameron was a Cow and Avery was a Donkey. Cameron proudly and confidently said a loud and elongated 'MOO!' and Avery refused to say her 'eey-ore' and then she decided to take a little nap on the stage. We then stayed for the church service. Gwen, Keith and the kids normally attend church some weekends but this was the first ever church service I have been to that wasn't a wedding, christening or funeral. It was nice, although at one point everyone went to the front row by row and kneelt down and the priest put the holy bread and water (wine) into everyone's mouths. I didn't know whether going up or not going up would offend anyone. I decided not to go up and I hope it didn't upset or offend anybody. Passages from the bible were read and we sung some hymns. Afterwards there was hot drinks and cakes that were served.
This evening was the Au Pair Christmas party / meeting at Carrie's house. This was the first meeting | have attended since being in Ridgefield. We had to make an item of food and bring a present. I made Christmas tree cupcakes. I made cupcakes and then covered an ice-cream cone in frosting and decorated it and put it on top. They took a while to make but I had so much fun making them. I bought some nice makeup and wrapped it up for my present.
At the Au Pair party we played a Christmas present exchange game. Everyone picked a number, my number was 25. Number 1 went first, chose a present off the table and opened it in front of everyone. Then number 2. Number 2 could either keep their present or swap with number 1. So when it was my turn I could keep my present I chose or I could choose any that had already been opened. I opened a notebook (the value of the gift was minimum $15 and this notebook looked like it was from the dollarstore...) and I swapped with a girl who had a blanket, a travel journal and a candle. No one else swapped with me so I got to keep this gift... Yay!
It was a good party and I met some new au pairs!
